Denver, Colorado is often referred to as the “Queen of the Rockies,” and if you visit the city during the warmer months, it’s easy to see why. The city is a popular tourism destination for the state, and it offers a wide variety of activities for visitors of all ages. So, take the time to explore the various attractions, restaurants, and stores in the city. Who needs to hit up a far-off exotic location when you can explore amazing spots near your home? This is a question we get quite often, and luckily, we have some great places to explore close to home. The following are some spots that are not only nearby in Denver but are also amazing—in their own unique ways.

• The Rocky Mountain National Park

If you’ve been to Denver, Colorado, chances are you’ve driven up, or down, the mountain to reach the Rocky Mountains. Though the Rockies are often overshadowed by their counterparts to the north, the Rocky Mountains can be just as impressive. A popular spot for hikers and adventure seekers, the Rockies offer a wide range of landscapes, including snow-capped peaks, eagles’ nests, and jagged rock formations. One of the most famous locations in the Rockies is the Rocky Mountain National Park, a national park that stretches across Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.

• The Central City

When you are out in Colorado visiting the Central City/Black Hawk area, you are not lost in the Rocky Mountains. You have a central destination to visit with sights that will keep your jaw dropping for days. These areas are all within a few days’ drive from each other.

• The Fort Collins

Fort Collins is relatively small and compact, yet it is home to many things that make it unique. Perhaps the most important aspect of Fort Collins is the local economy and its robust business community.

• The Deckers

If you’re looking for a place to relax and enjoy the Colorado Rockies, Denver is a great place to do so. Located at the base of the Rocky Mountains at the confluence of the Colorado and South Platte River systems, this city by name is the home of the American West. Denver is a city of amazing views and natural beauty with parks and open spaces, outdoor activities, festivals and events, restaurants, and more. Don’t miss the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area or the Denver Botanic Gardens if you’re craving adventures.

• The Summit County

There are few places in the world where peace and quiet reign supreme, but that is exactly what you will find in Summit County. The high desert environment is a major draw for visitors to this area, which is why Summit County is a popular place for hikers, campers, and mountain bikers. For the rest of the year, the area is quiet, but the summer months bring with them crowds from all over the world.

• The Evergreen

Evergreen/Mount Evans is one of my favorite hikes in Denver, CO. There are many places that have incredible views, but this is a special place. This is the place where the mountains meet the plains. “Evergreen” is a unique mountain located in Northern Colorado near the two-million-acre Arapaho National Forest. High above the adjacent town of Evergreen, Evergreen is the highest mountain on the Continental Divide and a perfect spot to enjoy the Rocky Mountains.

Denver, Colorado, is one of the nation’s gems. Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the city has lively bars, live music, beautiful parks, and world-class museums. The best part? Denver is only an hour and a half from one of the most beautiful national parks, Rocky Mountain National Park, which features hiking trails, breathtaking views of the mountains, and starry nights.

Most people dream of traveling the world, but what about spending time with family and friends? While some may enjoy the excitement of flight, the majority of travelers fly for business or vacation. Regardless, take the time to do something you’ve always wanted to do. Whether this is a road trip through the Southwest or mountain climbing in the Rockies, there is an infinite number of ways to experience the United States. If you are planning a trip to Denver, Colorado, then you should definitely try to visit Loveland. Just a 30-minute drive from the city, this place is filled with stunning scenery, a good place to spend a great time with your loved ones, a good idea to spend your weekend, and a great destination to explore.
